Digital Tachograhs

A half day course covering all a driver needs to know about the digital tachograph.  Classroom based, experienced instructors will take you through the controls and menus of both Stoneridge and Siemens instruments covering basic use of the instruments, manual entries, maintenance and production of records, responsibilities for downloading data etc.  This is not just a theory based course, ACT use a simulator which contains both Siemens and Stoneridge units enabling the driver to get real hands on experience of the equipment.  This course can be provided at our Crosshands training facility or on site at your premises.  A maximum number of six candidates are accepted on each course to enable each candidate to have experience of using the equipment.

Drivers Hours

A half day course covering the EU drivers hours law set out in EC 561/2006 and EC 3821/85 as amended by EC 2135/98 and the Working Time Directive. This course can be delivered at our Crosshands training facility or at your own premises.  A maximum of 15 candidates can be accommodated on this course.

Traffic Office

A two day course to provide traffic planners and others with administrative responsibilities for drivers with an introduction to employment law, health & safety, driver licensing, the powers of various enforcement agencies, people management and a detailed look at the drivers hours legislation provided by EC Regulation 561/2006.This modular course can be tailored to suit the needs of your organisation by the substitution, if necessary, of modules specifically designed to your requirements. The course can be delivered at our Crosshands training facility or at your own premises.  The maximum number of candidates accepted on this course is 12.

Driver Vehicle Familiarisation

Our instructors have all received instruction and model familiarisation with the manufacturers of Scania, Volvo and Mercedes vehicles.  In addition, they are familiar with the requirements of refrigerated transport, tipper operations, curtain-sided and flat-bed vehicles.

SAFED

Designed to improve the driving styles of drivers, this course provides an introduction to safe and fuel efficient driving thereby increasing fuel consumption and reducing wear and tear on your vehicles.  It is suitable for both large goods and small goods vehicle drivers.

This is a one day course using your vehicle.  The maximum number of candidates on each course is two assuming that the vehicle can accommodate 1 driver and two passengers.

Driver Assessments

Each assessment would typically last 1 hour.  The assessment is designed to aid your driver recruitment and selection process and provides a report as to the competence of your prospective driver. In the case of Category C or C+E licence holder, we provide a DSA approved LGV instructor to assess your candidates over an agreed route.  In the case of a Category B, B+E, D1 or D1+E licence holder we provide an ex DSA driving examiner. A modified version of this scheme can be used to assess drivers at regular intervals or perhaps following involvement in an accident or where there is suspicion of poor driving.

First Aid at Work

This 1 day course is appropriate for anyone with first aid responsibilities in the workplace.  Our trainer is M.Inst. SRM, M.I.L.A.M. qualified and will certificate all successful candidates.  Candidates will learn how to assess the priorities of treatment, demonstrate resuscitation procedures and know what action should be taken when dealing with first aid conditions in their workplace.  The course will include the recognition and treatment of shock, bleeding, airway obstructions and heart attacks.
