Course B2 –Drivers hours and the documentation required for the operation of goods or passenger vehicles:

Course overview:

A course designed to ensure drivers are aware of the drivers’ hours legislation and other requirements concerning the carriage of either goods or passengers.
 
This course has a morning session which is common to the drivers of goods and passenger carrying vehicles.  Where necessary, candidates will follow that common core on drivers’ hours together in the morning session.  Candidates will then be split into the appropriate passenger or goods carrying groups for the afternoon session which will concentrate on the necessary licences and other documentation necessary for the appropriate purpose i.e. either the carriage of goods or passengers.

Topics covered will include the requirements of the EC 561/2006, EC 3821/85 and the Transport Act 1968 and the main provisions of the Working Time Directive as it affects mobile workers.  Powers of enforcement authorities in relation to vehicles and operating centres.  Penalties for drivers hours offences or the incorrect use of recording equipment.  The duties of drivers in respect of the drivers’ hours and CPC training regulations.

The afternoon session will be split into passenger or goods carrying sections.  Both sections will include coverage of the relevant operator licences in respect of either category.

The goods carrying section will also cover standard contracts for the carriage of goods, international transport permits, CMR documentation, border crossing and the role of freight forwarders and agents.

The passenger carrying section will cover the use of safety equipment on board buses and coaches, Section 19 and Section 22 Permits, documentation required for national or international journeys.
